Az “Education - A Journey in Time” partnerség programot iskola-ill.oktatásfejlesztési projektnek szántuk.
Az „Education - A Journey in Time” projekt olyan feladatokat tartalmazott, mely egyaránt megmozgatta a diákokat, a tanárokat és a vezető testületet is minden partnerintézményben.
A két év során mindvégig törekedtünk és erőteljes lépéseket tettünk a disszeminációra, azaz a projekttermék terjesztésére mind iskolai, mind lokális szinten. (Rövid műsorszámok, videófelvételek, filmek, összefoglalók, PowerPoint prezentációk, újságcikkek, iskolai weboldal bővítése) Nagyszámú diák, tanár, szülő vett részt a projektben, megerősítve ezzel az iskola-szülő-közösség kapcsolatot.
Mindent egybevetve, úgy gondoljuk, hogy az „Education – A Journey in Time” partnerségben sokat tanultunk egymástól, s sikeresen elértük kitűzött célunkat: nagy lépést tettünk a sokszínű európai oktatás és iskolarendszerek harmonizációja felé.
Our partnership “Education - A Journey in Time” was designed as a school development project. Its purpose was to encourage the comparison and the analysis of past and present educational solutions, which were adopted by partner schools and education systems in old members of EU (Germany, United Kingdom), new members of the Union (Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria) and future members (Turkey), in order to find the common ground which could sustain innovation and progress in education and answer the needs of each community in the same time. The partner schools decided to unite their forces and to learn from each other, to share the acquired experience of each institution and turn it into a common one, to create an informational base in order to offer through it the final products to other interested institutions, locally, as well as nationally and internationally.
We intended to explore how the education system started and how it developed in different European countries. Moreover, we wanted to emphasize the traditional educational patterns from each country, the way it functions today and how the education system faces the challenges of present times and of future times. Underlining the strong points from each education system and finding ways to improve it, where possible only by sharing experience and, most of all, by paying attention to students’ needs, making their ideas productive, using their creativity.
In order to achieve the proposed objectives, all the partner schools  presented PowerPoint presentations, short movies, organised thematic workshops and study visits to museums, old schools or different other relevant institutions or monuments, during the project meetings. Besides this, the partner schools put on stage different plays, prepared photography/painting exhibitions, held demonstrative lessons using active teaching methods, hosted special meetings with parents and members of the local community. Other outcomes of the partnership were the project web site and the magazine dedicated to the project.
The partnership “Education - A Journey in Time” comprised activities which equally addressed the students, the teachers and the management team from each partner institution. The students contributed to the research and the making of some materials (Power Point presentations of the school and of the education system, and the evolution of this system over the years; sketches illustrating educational patterns, performances presenting the minorities’ traditions, a photo/drawing exhibition). Thus they enriched their IT and English knowledge and they broadened both their views about their own culture and about the culture and civilization of other nations. Students participated to project meetings as well, where they put forward their prepared presentations, developing their communicative skills and their self-confidence. Student exchange also contributed to the broadening of their cultural perspective and to creating some friendly bonds among young people from different European states.
Besides the effort of coordinating students’ activities, the teachers had the greatest role, taking into account the specific of the themes, that required high-level knowledge in the Education field (Methodology, Educational Strategies, History of Education and so on) and a great ability to synthetize an abstract and vast material.
The teachers participated in an independent activity, including research materials concerning the inclusive education system, ways of ensuring quality in this system, as well as finding and applying new methods in education. The teachers involved in the project improved both their pedagogical knowledge (due to their participation at the international workshops and the open lessons) and their competences of establishing good relations with the students’ families and the community which the school belongs to. Moreover, teachers developed their language and IT skills. Communication between colleagues of different nationalities contributed to the growth of their self-esteem, but also to knowing their colleagues better, which in turn will hopefully lead to building long term friendships.
An ample dissemination activity was organized in each of the two years of project and at the level of each partner institution, consisting of: mini-shows, video recordings of the activities, Power Point presentations. A large number of teachers, students, parents were involved in the project, contributing to the strengthening of the School-Family-Community partnership. They made their contribution to a successful carrying out of the proposed activities, intended to meet certain needs such as: innovation in education, quality management, discovering the cultural roots of each education system, the inclusive education and so on.
To conclude, the partnership “Education – A Journey in Time” aimed and succeeded to be a step forward towards a unity in the diversity of the European education systems.
